Streamlining Equine Business Operations with AI: Tools, Tips, and Insights

Updated: Jan 30

Many equine business owners struggle with time management, repetitive tasks, and finding innovative ways to engage clients. AI offers practical solutions that streamline operations, save time, and help you focus on what matters most—your horses and clients. As we gear up for the holidays (or continue to enjoy NFR), a little levity for your day with a sprinkling of practicality brought to you by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

AI applications are seemingly popping up everywhere. ChatGPT serves to help us build structure and generate ideas. Google’s AI Overview quickly consolidates search results to put answers at your fingertips. OpenArt generates images of exactly what we want in seconds. The possibilities are endless.

Practical Ways AI Can Streamline Your Equine Business

Here are a few examples to get you started:

Enhancing Educational and Training Programs

Running camps this year? AI can help you think of new and refreshing takes on games and ideas for your camps, even tailoring the list by campers’ age.

Find support for your equine educational and horsemanship programs. For example, ChatGPT can help you come up with horse trivia questions to test and grow your students’ knowledge.

The Limitations and Risks of Using AI

While these tools have lots of nifty applications, they are not foolproof (note the fine print at the bottom of the chat function in ChatGPT, "ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info." This fine print is not to be taken lightly. By now most of us in the industry have seen the WikiHow AI generated image of a farrier picking up a horse’s hind leg where it bends the same way as a horse’s front leg - oops!

Even with simple AI applications like those identified above, make sure you check the results. Take a look at this result I got when I asked what the typical retirement age for a horse is. I sure would love to meet a 55 or 62 year old horse, let alone one just thinking about retiring at that age! That would be quite the feat.

Google AI incorrect info. Always ensure you doublecheck anytime you use AI for business processes.

Start Incorporating AI in Your Equine Business

AI is a wonderful tool and can save us a lot of time and energy, propelling our business forward at an even faster rate than ever before. It does have its limitations, though. Review and check the results against either your own knowledge or another resource before proceeding forward.

Have you tried using AI in your horse business? What worked—or didn’t work—for you?

Hugs and Happy Riding!
